The Baton Rouge Civil War Round Table, established in 1963, is a non - profit organization. We provide a non-partisan atmosphere that promotes study and fosters an appreciation of the sacrifices made, by all, during the civil war.
Robert M."Bob"Reilly was a member of the Chicago Civil War Round Table before moving to Baton Rouge. Bob decided to explore the possibility of organizing a round table in Baton Rouge.
He approached and secured the support of Dr. T. Harry Williams, a nationally known author and Boyd professor of History at Louisiana State University. Fred G. Benton, Jr., a prominent Baton Rouge attorney, other prominent Baton Rougeans and L.S.U. students who had an interest in the Civil War were also contacted. The rest, shall we say is history.
